Let’s Start A Blog

Published by Mr. J at 8:46 am under General

Hello everyone,

Before we start sharing our new niche on the internet with people in our grade level, school, community, and then the larger world community, we need to first build our blog. The teachers thought it would be a good idea to have you, the members of the club, begin to write a few articles, posts, book reviews, or personal reflections about why you are here and what we are doing as a group. If you want to leave a short answer, simply click on the comment link below and type your response directly. If however, you are interested in writing a more in depth piece please email it to me and the tech team and I will post it here on the blog.

Here are a few guiding questions to get you started:

“Vision without action is a daydream. Action with without vision is a nightmare.”

-Japanese Proverb

  • Why did you join the Global Issues club? What is your vision and what action do you plan to take?
  • Can I make a difference in the world?
  • If I really care about an issue, how do I convince others to care, and therefore act?
  • What makes a person great?
  • Who are your heroes? Why are they your hero?

I wanted to join the Global Issues Club because i want to help out the unfortunate people in life, and because i believe that all people should be equally treated. My vision is to try and help poor people, and the action that i am planning to take is to start by fundraising, and grow this fundraising larger and larger, into other schools, maybe even in public places and companies.

I also think that everyone is able to make a difference in the world, as long as they set their mind to what they want to do and figure out how they want to do it.

I can convince people to contribute after i give them facts about what is happening to people and the environment in the world that they don’t know about, therefore people will start to think about it, and will start to act towards it.

In my opinion, what makes a person great is if he compassionate towards others, and will try his/her best to support them in every way he can, and that is what i think makes a person great.

I have alot of heroes, because alot of famous people have donated to charity, even built charaties, and schools in Africa to provide education for the children there, and i also know some wealthy, unfamous people that have donated alot of money and contributed to some of these charities, and i dont really consider them heroes, but i consider them as some kind of idols because they have decided to take a huge step in life and try and contribute to a good cause in life.

I wanted to join the global issues club because I believe anyone individually can make a difference. If an individudal can make a difference i wonder what the world could do and will do if they were aware of what is going on around us. I want to open someones eyes to the world that surrounds us, because the first step to helping is knowledge.

This is a little random but it gives you a little perspective on how lucky we all really are.

I wanted to join the Global Issues club because in my opinion, if one person is suffering in the world then everyone is affected and it’s everyone’s responsibility to deal with it. Just because we may not be directly affected by people dying in other places right now, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t our problem. The world is a community and everyone has to help each other out. I also think that one person can make a difference and that if everyone just did a little to help the people suffering then the amount of people suffering would go drastically down. In Global Issues i really think we can make a lot of people aware of our world and its problems and i think we can make a difference and that is why i joined.

I joined the global issues club to make a difference in my life, others and in the lives of people yet to come.
Before in my life up till 8th grade I could never really see my world the way I see it now. Some one has really opened my eyes and said “Wake up! It’s not just you and your problems!”.I’m a part of the Global Issues class and my teacher has shown us some things that not only shock us but make us want to do something. Make us want to make a change, and make it now. After that, I decided to join the club. A place where I can get up and network with people. A place where I can help people realize that they can make a difference. I just want to open peoples eyes just like my teacher did so I can motivate them to do something. Something simple.
My teacher said “One small difference is greater then a thousand big ideas”. And i agree.

When I was in 8th grade, I traveled to Peru with my school. While I was there, I got to visit an orphanage and a few village schools. As I played with the little kids and saw the smiles on their faces, I couldn’t help but notice the extreme poverty in which they lived. I came from a privileged background, and I wondered why I should have so much when these kids had so little. I still think about that trip and the impact it had on world view. I hope we can continue to build opportunities for students at ASD to interact with different cultures and lifestyles so that they can passionately work towards making a difference in this world!

I joined the club because I know how lucky I am and how unlucky others are and they don’t deserve to suffer. I used to live in Beijing, China and it has really opened my eyes, I remember all of the times walking down the street with my friends and seeing all the poor and unlucky people. I remember as i saw an old man without eyes or legs (there for not being able to get a job) wanting some spare change and I thought it was so unfair, it is not his fault and he deserves a better life.
After that I voluntered at an healing home/orphange for kids mostly from 0-8, I made so many good friends and really wanted to give them and many others a livable future, that is why I joined.

I joined the global issues club because i wanted to help the poor an unfortunate people. When i used to see these people begging for money, i couldn’t believe how luck i was. (drinking clean water, going to a good school etc.)
When i heard about this club i immediately said to myself that now is the time to take ACTION!
I recommend every middle school student to join this club and make a difference in this world!!!
